EKG

EKG (or ECG) stands for electrocardiogram which is a medical procedure that records the electrical signal from the heart to assist in diagnosing heart conditions such as a heart attack or A-fib.

EKG

An EKG is a painless medical test used to help diagnose heart conditions. The test is performed by attaching electrodes to the anterior chest which record electrical impulses. The test is used to assist in diagnosing a wide variety of cardiac conditions.

Yes, we commonly perform and evaluate EKG’s here at Surfside when evaluating suspected heart conditions. EKG’s are typically a covered test by insurances including Medicare.

EKG is a mainstay of heart evaluation and can produce vital information relevant to heart attacks, A-fib, congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, pericarditis, and a large collection of abnormal heart rhythms know as arrhythmias.

EKG’s are commonly performed for pre-op evaluations along with bloodwork and for physicals that may require one. Although we do evaluate emergency heart conditions, an EKG is routinely obtained for non-emergency conditions.
